Mix four packets of knox gelatin in a bowl with the juice of an orange and 1/2 cup cold water.
In a small saucepan heat up 3/4 cup water, 2 cups of sugar and the orange peels from the orange on the stove. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool down. You can add food coloring, but I opted out to keep these more chemical free.
Add the gelatin mix to the sugar water and whisk until one texture.
Pour into a flat baking dish or sheet and chill in the fridge for several hours.
Take out and dump the solid mass onto a spread of sugar. You can then cut into any shapes you like, my consitency was similar to a gummy worm. I actually cut them with a sugar coating to minimize sticking, but I decided to rinse the sugar off later, liking it better without it.
