Mesir Wat

6 Cups Water

2 Cups Red Lentils

Onion, Chopped

3 TB Butter

2 TB Ginger, grated

2 Cloves Garlic, chopped

1 TB Paprika

1 Tsp Tumeric

1 Tsp Garam Masala

2 TB Tomato Paste

topping:

Cottage Cheese

Lemon Juice

Salt

In a heavy pot saute onions in butter and add in the spices: fresh ginger, minced garlic, paprika, garam masala, and tumeric.

Add the lentils, water and tomato paste and bring to a boil. Simmer, covered for 20 minutes. Take off lid and cook for an additional 10 minutes.

Make a topping out of cottage cheese and lemon juice. Salt to taste.

Spoon out mixture into bowls and top with cottage cheese.
