Seitan Lettuce Wraps

A vegetarian subsitute for chicken – Seitan is a delicious meaty [but meatless] textured gluten protein that you can use in all kinds of food.

I use the box of 8 oz ground seitan. It’s already chopped and ready to go [it’s about $4 at the grocery].

To make these Asian Lettuce Wraps, you mix it in a bowl with:

1/2 cup chopped water chestnuts

1/2-1 cup chopped mushrooms

1/2 teaspoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon cooking wine/wine/sherry

Let all of this marainate for 15 minutes.

Stir fry in a wok until cooked through. The seitan is pre-cooked so it doesn’t take more than 10 minutes on med-high heat.

Spoon out into washed lettuce pieces. Sprinkle with chopped green onion.
