I believe the trick to a spectacular homemade taco is using cabbage instead of lettuce. The most important components of the “fish taco” are: cabbage, protein [shrimp, tilapia or cod] and lime. All of the other toppings are left entirely to preference. I like cold, chopped avocado, minced onion and tomato, with absolutely NO canned salsa. I sometimes put a little hot sauce or plain taco sauce.
